Robert Thompson serves as the Dean of Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. Dean Thompson is responsible for the administrative and financial management of the College; the curricular and instructional programs, including the Academic Advising Center, the Academic Resource Center, the Office of Undergraduate Research Support and the Office of Assessment for Trinity College.
Dean Thompson holds a BA from LaSalle College and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Dakota. In 1972 he joined the faculty at Georgetown University Medical Center as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and in 1973 became Director of Psychology at the University Affiliated Program for Child Development. From 1972-75, He also served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology at the Catholic University of America. Dean Thompson joined the Duke faculty in 1975 where he holds appointments in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and the Department of Pediatrics.
