Essential to the long-term fiscal health of the university are gifts to endowment, gifts that are invested and grow under the guidance of professional managers, generating funds to support Duke's students, faculty, and programs in perpetuity.
Financial Aid Initiative
Duke University seeks to raise $300 million in endowment for financial aid by the end of 2008 – $245 million of that amount for undergraduate scholarships. A small group of donors, led by The Duke Endowment of Charlotte, NC, has committed $100 million in challenge funds to encourage new gifts for financial aid endowment.
Duke Annual Fund
As unrestricted gifts, these contributions are used by Duke on a daily basis where the needs and opportunities are greatest.
